Terms & conditions
All orders are subject to the following terms and conditions. Any purchaser of eggs or chicks from us agrees to these terms and conditions as a prerequisite of ordering. There are no exceptions to these terms and conditions, so please read them carefully and be sure you are willing to abide by them before ordering. If you are unwilling to abide by them without complaint, please do not place an order.
Hatch Rate Guarantee
Due to the many factors beyond our control, we make no guarantees either express or implied on your hatch rate of eggs. We only guarantee to ship fertile eggs, and that your eggs will arrive unbroken. Fertility is confirmed several times before releasing eggs from any pen and throughout the season. Extra eggs will always be included if they are available. Because we ultimately cannot control nature, or your personal hatching techniques and experience, we make no guarantees that you will hatch any chicks from our hatching eggs.
No refunds or replacements will be given on hatching eggs. This is a firm policy with zero exceptions.
FOR SHIPPED EGGS: Shipped eggs must be held at the post office for pick up, no exceptions. An address and phone number must be included with each order. If you want extra insurance on the eggs please include an extra $5 in your shipping cost. If the box is damaged upon pick up you must take a photo of it at the post office, not in your car or at home. We are not responsible for lost packages or extended or delayed shipping as those factors are out of our control once the eggs are left at the post office. You may purchase heat packs for your shipped eggs if you prefer. Hatching eggs will always be shipped priority however you can pay extra to have them shipped express. Also, special handling is available by the USPS for an additional charge as well. By purchasing shipped hatching eggs you are acknowledging all potential risks involved and are accepting said risks and the terms set forth above by sending payment.
FOR LOCAL PICK-UP: local pick-up is always welcomed. Eggs are sold on a first-come first-served basis. All unsold / uncollected eggs will be set in the incubator and those chicks will be offered for sale, first come first served.
LIVE BIRDS
FOR SHIPPED BIRDS: birds are guaranteed to arrive to the post office alive. There are zero guarantees after their arrival. Factors such as how long they sat at the post office before picking them up, transporting from the post office to home, and individual brooding techniques can impact vigor and survival of live birds so no refunds or replacements will be sent on loss of birds from the moment they arrive at your post office. There is a minimum order of 6 chicks to safely ship. Extra chicks will always be included as they are available. These conditions apply to juvenile and adult birds as well.
FOR LOCAL PICK-UP: local pick up for live birds is always welcomed. There is a minimum purchase of 3 chicks to ensure their safety and health.
Shipping Eggs
Orders for eggs are shipped Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday. Eggs are shipped via Priority Mail via the United States Postal Service (aka USPS). Estimated delivery times are up to three days. However, Priority Mail is not guaranteed by the USPS and delivery times can be longer. We will send you the tracking number when your eggs ship. Hatching eggs are double boxed and packed in foam egg shippers.
Shipping Chicks
Orders for chicks are shipped on Monday or Tuesday. We ship via USPS Express shipping. Delivery times are generally one or two days; however, the USPS has extended it's guaranteed delivery time to up to four days depending on source and destination zip codes. Our Arrive Alive Guarantee covers any losses in the event of delayed delivery by the USPS. We will cover any losses up to the cost of your order. Shipping is not refundable.
SHIPPING
Shipping costs are extra in addition to the above egg and live bird prices:
• Chicks will cost $65+ to ship priority express,
• Hatching eggs USPS priority is included in the purchase price. If you you want your eggs shipped priority express there is an option for this at check out. Hatching eggs are automatically insured for $50 per box with USPS Priority mail. You may elect to purchase additional insurance up to $100 through our online shop.
• Heat packs are an additional $5 per heat pack for eggs. Heat packs are included in day old chicks shipments.
• There may be additional costs for box fees and increased shipping costs for juvenile and adult birds, insurance, special handling, etc.
Farm Tours
We take biosecurity seriously. Farm visits expose our flocks to the potential for inadvertent disease transmission. We simply can't take that risk. We do not allow farm tours or for you to pick up your order at our farm.
Vaccinations and Disease
We do not vaccinate. We believe in breeding for inherit resistance to disease. We believe this cannot be achieved by applying blanket vaccinations indiscriminately. Quarantine
We recommend that you quarantine all birds received from us for at least 30 days so that they can be observed and verified to be free from disease. The recommended quarantine is a precautionary measure. Chicks you ordered from us that showed no signs of disease prior to being integrated with your existing flock does not necessarily mean the problem originated with our chicks. It is very difficult to determine the origin of a disease in a chicken flock. The transmission of disease is a complex process. Even expert pathologists may have difficulty identifying the precise origin of a disease.
Timing of Shipment
It is difficult to precisely predict laying rates, fertility rates, and hatch rates. You will be placed on a waiting list when you pay for your order. Orders are shipped in the order in which they are received, unless otherwise requested. Please let us know if you have any blackout dates for which you cannot receive your order, or any do not ship before dates. We will try to accommodate your request. We are not a commercial hatchery. Please be patient. We will fill your order as soon as possible. It's all up to hens.
Order Cancellation
You may cancel your order at any time within three (3) days of ordering, provided your order has not already shipped. If you cancel your order after three (3) days for any reason other than our ability to fill your order, you will forfeit 25% of the cost of your order. If we are unable to fulfill your order within a reasonable amount of time, we will give you the option to either continue to wait or you may cancel your order, in which case you will receive 100% refund.
What to expect
You should expect birds that reflect the fundamental attributes of the breed. You should not expect a cosmetically perfect bird. In fact, you should expect to find some defects in virtually every bird you raise. Only a tiny fraction of chickens conform to their breed standard in all respects. We do not represent that every bird we sell is flawless.
